BA511 - ARINC-429

Description

ARINC-429 Rx/Tx Do-254 compliant
BA511 - ARINC-429

The BA511 is a multi-channel ARINC-429 transmitter and receiver IP core for serial communication in airborne applications. The BA511 is developed, validated and licensed by Barco Silex.

The BA511 has been developed according to the RTCA/DO-254 ED-80 guidelines. These guidelines are required by the Airworthiness Certification Authorities (EASA and FAA) for hardware developments that need to be certified for the use in commercial aircraft equipments.

The BA511 incorporates a simple basic synchronous CPU interface which can easily be connected to your required interface. Each individual channel can be configured according to your specifications. Each channel contains a specific buffer (FIFO), which is part of the BA511. This allows efficient data transfer between the CPU and the BA511.

Key  benefits

  • Improved development flow several times already certified up to Level-A
  • Up to 32Rx and 16Tx ARINC 429 Channels
  • RxTxchannels easily configurable for other next use
  • Effortlessly customizable Synchronous CPU interface
  • Adaptable independent word buffers for each input or output channel
  • Independent Channel parameterizations through CPU interface
  • High speed and low speed mode configurability
  • Exchange FIFO errors information available
  • Silicon proven solution

Market trends

The need of time to market in embedded systems development is constantly growing.

In the harsh electronic design environment, the availability of the BA511 ARINC 429 IP minimizes risks, saves times and efforts. This easily configurable IP is saving designers from either developing their own ARINC 429 interface designs for safety-critical applications requiring DO-254 certification and avoid getting doubts with functionality.

Business model:

Barco Silex high quality offering is also reflected in our flexible business models.

  • Single or multi project license
  • Comprehensive integration support
  • Facilitated retargeting and upgrades
  • Maintenance

As a strong and experienced industrial partner we understand the need for flexible business models and are happy to provide such flexibility for our ARINC IP core. Barco-Silex is offering its expertise with DO254 to provide support for both certification and how to handle this IP customization for coherent design flow.

Deliverables

  • VHDL RTL sources compliant to the Barco coding standard
  • Functional verification test benches obtaining 100% code coverage
  • Simulation and implementation scripts and logs in order to regenerate the same functional behavior
  • Implementation results

Service experience

The BA511 is derived from ARINC-429 modules that have been integrated in at least 3 different types of cockpit video displays, implemented in different FPGAs, for which some displays were granted for TSO and ETSO certification (DAL-A and DAL-B).
